From Yvann Tamaiana

Hi Analee,

I'm happy to hear from you. It's very good to me that you took sometime to send me this message. Well, I'm very busy at this time and I have lot of travel at the end of the year. I will do my best to attend the kick off meeting, but I'll may be without my family except for the grand reunion. In order for me to attend the kick off meeting, please advise all of our friends to fix a date and place. Is it still Manila in November or December ? Since Rei and Jigs emailed us, I have no additional news ever since.

Sigi Sis, ingat ka diha !

Pres. Arsenio Pagaduan's Reply

Sister Analee,

Your suggestions are wonderful and very appropriate for mothers with kids. As I understand from Bro Segre, this December activity is basically a reunion “Kick off” and planning for the grand reunion. Those expected to attend are practically those who are available to travel or come to the Philippines this early. The grand reunion will still be in 2010 or 2011. This will allow those who are traveling from abroad to come to the Philippines for this purpose.

Please send also your suggestions to Jigs. We are excited to know that you are planning to join us this December. Regards to your family.

Ayo ayo.

Bro & Sis Pagaduan

A Voice from Moms with Kids

Dear President,

I've been chatting with some rm's discussing things to consider for the reunion activities. We are very happy to have that progamme done and wondering if it's a final activities or not.

Here is the copy for your ready reference:

DAY 1 (Friday, 18 Dec 2009)
12NN Registration (pack lunch per individual/family) Temple Visitors Center
2:00PM Orientation, Socialization, etc. Back of the Visitors Center
3:00PM Devotional with Pres. A. Pagaduan Back of the Visitors Center
4:00PM Testimony Meeting
4:30PM Temple Session Temple
6:30PM Departure to Kamay Kainan Buffet, Trinoma Mall Trinoma Mall
7:00PM DINNER/Meeting Kamay Kainan, Trinoma Mall(Eat all you can Php 250.00/head)
8:30PM Back to Patron House/Hotels (REST) Patron House, Hotels, Homes

DAY 2 (Saturday, 19 Dec 2009 Caylabne Beach Resort)
4:00AM Departure from House Parking Lot
7:00AM Arrival
8:00AM Breakfast
9:00AM Swimming
10:30AM Group Games
12NN Lunch
1:30PM Swimming
3:00PM Snacks
4:00PM Departure to Manila Cavite to Manila

The first day of activities which we'll be having a packed lunch, registration, and fellowshipping would be great, but if we can let them eat whenever they want before going to the temple, so they don't have to bother bringing bags and boxes of food but instead they can bring finger foods, like chips and dips, fruit bowls etc. to munch in while visiting. This will be a more convenient way for mothers who have 2 or more kids. Of course they can pack snacks for their kids as they want.

The 2nd day, which says departure to Caylabne resort at 4am would be a little too early. That means couples who have kids needs to wake up earlier to pack up, take care of their kids and of themselves as well. I want to suggest that 6am would be a very considerable time for departure. That means we will arrive at 9am and instead of having a full breakfast, we can have a brunch at 10am and a table for snacks, fruits and water/juice will be set for the rest of the day. I don't know if this is a good idea? But I thought we can spend the whole morning by visiting, looking around the place and swimming. The whole afternoon will be for group games/family games.

I understand that one of the objectives here is to enjoy the fellowshipping and activities with our family and not to exhaust them just to meet what we want for them. Whatever decision you will made up with for the activity will be final.

Ayo ayo po.

Sincerely,
Analee

... i tried to compute our possible expenses for this pre-reunion based on the information, i got... man-cav-manila 200+ dinner day1 250+ day1 snacks 200+ resort 500+ dagupan-man-dagupan 660 = Php 1810 x 2(with my wife ann) = Php 3620/ 11 months = 330/ 4 weeks in a month = Php 82.5 in a week... therefore, me and my wife should save at least Php 82.5 per week to join the this pre-renion... and then the rest we'll just prepare for pocket money... well, good enough!... PRELUDE Reunion Dec 2009

Dear All:

In relation to the Grand Reunion (the place & dateare still to be set), this is to announce that a PRELUDE Reunion will be organized in Manila Temple , the details are as follows:

Date: December 18 & 19, 2009 (Friday & Saturday)

Time: 12NN (see program of activities below)

Place: Manila Philippines Temple (Day 1)

Caylabne Beach Resort, Ternate Cavite (Day 2)

This reunion will serve as a kick-off meeting for planning and finalization of the Grand Reunion which I believed has to take place sometime 2010 or 2011 to give way to those who need to save for the costs that will be incurred for the planned Grand Reunion.

However, several RMs have already signified their travel plan to be here in the Philippines by December 2009 so I thought I would personally initiate a Reunion that would also pave way for finalizing all the necessary details for the planned Grand Reunion while those who are residing within the Philippines may not find it hard to attend this kick-off meeting/reuninon.

The program of activities will be as follows (to be finalized):

Time Activity Place

DAY 1 (Friday, 18 Dec 2009)

Accommodation: To be arranged individually. Use of Patron House is highly encouraged or hotels close to Manila Temple would be more convenient.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for more details. You still have 11 months to prepare for the event and I’d be sending you posters for you to print and post in your respective Stake Centers, chapels and Institute of Religions.

Quick notes

Brothers & Sisters,
its so exciting to have a reunion but it takes a lot of sacrifice to make it into a reality. i just would like to contribute my stand for this said reunion. me & my family were so happy if we can also join. and that can happen if we will have it in Manila anytime this year.
about Cebu, it's also a wonderful experience if we can have another reunion there in 2011 so we can also see President Monson in person. it's my prayer to meet the living prophet. i hope we can save some money to attend the temple dedication there someday. if the majority of us would like to have our reunion in Cebu, we will try our best to save to join the said reunion. for now, Manila na lang muna. PDM RMs reunion part 2 na lang po sa Cebu. hehe suggestion lang po yun. but it would be great if you can consider it.

group hug!!

Brother Yvann TEMAIANA

Dear All,
Long time since my last message, basta ang importante diha mao sa pagkadako ang listahan nato... daghan mga tao karon lagi.
Sister Analee, thanks for your job regarding websites. THEY ARE GREAT!!

Dear All,
Please, kindly pay attention of this message if the place remain a problem.
Now, I think we better choose a place according to number of voluntary people who wants and can supervise, guide people, and manage activities in one place.

What I mean, is that we should keep in mind that our reunion must
1. be spiritual.
2. a time to meet again
3. If it should be spiritual, there must be a temple to stand with in a picture (remember, missionary work is the means to have temple, and temple is one of the achievement of missionary work), thats why we've worked for two fulltime years.
4. the chosen place NEED, as I have said before, voluntary people who wants and can supervise, guide, and manage activities in one place. For example, if Lyn is the only one to supervise in Cebu, this will surely be impossible for her to stand for everyone's needs.

So, for myself, Cebu or Manila are the best places, because of TEMPLES!

Now, if I were you (like Pres. PAGADUAN said for those who remember LOL), yeah if I were you brothers and sisters, Manila can be the place because most of you have made your covenants out there in Manila Temple and also, cost will be cheaper for those who will come from outside the Philippines.

Cebu is an opportunity if temple and patron house are fixed up and ready for our reunion. Also most of us, speak better cebuano than tagalog, minsan ingles doon sa Manila. After all, Cebu has also a lot of RMs, Lyn has already express her readiness, Temple and Patron House should be ready before the reunion, and will be a new experience for ALL of us. This is an exiting one.

Please determine how many people will attended reunion where and when ever it would take place.
Know how many people can help in Manila and Cebu about supervising, activity management...etc (remember, Lyn has already sent an overview of at least, 4 days planning, so those in Manila need to present something spiritual and attractive)

These are suggestions, and for me this can't happen without a temple to attend session with my Brothers and Sisters and family. Another point, which place between Cebu and Manila is concentrated of 2000-2002 PDM RM's ?

Now, the date, if the peak of airfare is from Dec to Jan, well we better choose JUNE 2011.
It gives us enought time from now to save some money. But, if this is not a problem and keep for the end of Dec 2010 as previously discussed, it can be too.

Please, kindly find attached a reunion board that can help enumerating names, places, etc.

awaiting your loving reply
I love you all,

Your Brother in Christ

Dear All,

There are lots of RM's who are anxious to know when the reunion should be held. I think they already got the idea that it will be held at Cebu but we still need to finalize the date. My sister-in-law's husband works in one of the airlines here and told me that the peak price of the airfare starts 12 of Dec to first week of January. I suggest that we need to inform the RM's especially those who reside or working outside the Philippines to book their flight before that date, as what I have learned that during those times the airfare could go up twice or even 3x the regular price. Just a heads up, and will be happy to know the development of the plan. -analee

Day 3

Day 4

A Letter from Sis Lyn Martinez

Hi!

Yep, wonderful suggestion. For sure we can have the reunion either 3rd or 4th quarter of next year. By that time the Temple is completely ready, Patron House is fully operational likewise the buildings built in the Temple compound. The patron house layout and its structure including all of the amenities is outstanding! Those who does not want to stay in the patron house can stay in the nearest hotel. Here are the estimated rates:

P200 Patron House/with ac per room/shared cr - this is roughly US4.00/day
P750 Hotel/double/with ac/cr/cable tv/telephone - this is roughly US$15.00/day
P1000 Hotel/double/with ac/cr/cable tv/telephone - this is roughly US$25.00/day

Hotel rates may vary, depending on the tallest building

I will be able to send you list of places that we can go to for our activities. We can even go to the nearest island with awesome beaches! We can also arrange vans to drive us to our destination etc etc.

For the RM's living close to the island of Cebu we can also arrange better airfare rates. We just need to make sure that the guys will have the same travel date/period. I know that we can make this happen. What we need to do as our main priority is to locate where these RM's are; their circumstances; their commitment to attend the reunion. Let me know what else do you require or need, I am email away.

If we will have the reunion in Cebu, count me in. I am giving my full commitment moving forward.

Missing you all!

Lyn
[Sister Martinez]

A Letter from Bro. Temaiana

I agree with you for Davao, that is why Cebu is good, and it still in visayas. Now, 2010 is good, but for us who leave abroad does our situation will permit us to do that ? Travel, shelter, food, aside from activities, we all need a budget and this we'll not be the same for everybody. I think time and money go toghether, close is the reunion short is the time to save money.

But we need someone like Lyn (Sis Martinez) who knows the place, to give us feedback about shelter and plan activities for us out there. Now our goal is to make our reunion happen and meet, this is the most important, after, its sure it would be best to attend the open house which is estimated to be on the first quarter (March) of next year, for me it will be difficult and maybe impossible. By Dec 2010 this can be good why not for Xmas another suggestion.

I got a thought, just ask all RM's when is the best season to travel because cost is low. So according to that, we'll make an estimate appropriate period for journey so everybody (especially those abroad) make their budget plan (specific, measurable, achiveable, realitic and TIME phased). After that we can choose the appropriate date and specially YEAR to meet. And even if we can't attend Cebu temple dedication we can attend it's sessions all together or by group.

All are suggestion

:)

A letter from Bro. Ramilo

Hi Sis Analee,
Thank you for your email message.
With all the pictures and messages posted, I can say you have created a very nice blog site. Just a thought, It will be nice too if we will have a mission photo gallery. Well, I started to bring to mind my mission days! I was not able to meet you personally that time, I left in June 2000. I was assigned in the mission office as Finance Secretary for 2 mission presidents. Some things didnt work out properly for me during that time and my last few months in the mission. Nothwithstanding, I managed to fix everything. I missed the 2 Davao Mission Presidents and their family (Pres. Mascardo and Pres. Pagaduan) and of course all the PDM RM's. I pray to God that all the converts we've taught will remain active.
Nakamingaw gyud! Please keep me posted.
May the Lord bless you and your family with all the happiness in life!
Work with faith!

A Letter from Sis Gonzaga (Dawn)

Hi, Sis Cayang!
We haven't met as I believe I had already returned home when you entered the field. :-D. Thank you for putting up the blog spot. The planned reunion is great news, indeed! The thought of being together with President and Sister Pagaduan and fellow PDMRMs again just fills my heart with joy.
I am currently based in Singapore but would really love to attend and help in anyway I can. To date, there are about five of us in this small country who had had served in PDM under President Pagaduan. I will inform the others who are here... I am sure they'd be excited and would love to come, too!

Let me know how I can help.

Love,

A Letter from Bro. Temaiana

Hi Sister Analee,

Many thanks for the blog made. It's an amazing one. I appreciate the concern of everyone, and happy to hear a little about our Beloved Mission President.

Dear All,

Well, Rei is right and I sustain his approch about delegating the assignments to the R.M's based in the Phils.

Jigs's proposal date is a good one and leave us a time to gather enough money to attend our reunion. We also need to know how long reunion would take and where ? Cebu is very good, but for myself Davao is still the best place in the world, and it's the only place I know in Phils...hehehe.

Is Davao remain dangerous for foreigners... ? if Yes, I vote for Cebu of course hehehe (para sa mga pamilya)

For myself, if I'm going in Phils, for the ticket's price I'll stay for 2 weeks maybe one month. Also according to the chosen reunion place, we need someone who can look for good and nice hotel and place to leave during that period... I think this is what Jigs was talking about.
Now, I think we will know activities we want after knowing the chosen place.

Pls keep me updated.
Much love,
Si YVANN

Letter from Sis. Martinez

Good morning!

The test email that I sent few minutes ago was a group distro that my husband created for myself which we can use too. We can work on the program, planning the venue etc etc as we move forward. I suggest that at the moment our main priority is to locate where these RMs are; how are they now; their circumstances; their commitment to join this reunion and more.

My current calling is the Cebu City Stake Public Affairs Director, I mentioned this because last sunday together with the 1st Councilor of our Stake Presidency we discussed things related to Cebu Temple - "open house". The estimated date is on March 2010! Few months from now and then the temple should be ready! I live near the temple building and I am blessed to witness the ground breaking and blessed to see the ongoing construction. Right now, building the spire is in progress and nearly to completion. The saints here are very excited and thrilled for the Cebu Temple.

In my island, Cebu - we have slowly identified some RMs from PDM and we can expand the announcement to neighboring islands like bohol, dumaguete, bacolod, samar, tacloban etc. Some returned missionaries within Cebu were identified, located and some already gave their commitment to join the reunion and they are all excited! The golden question remains, WHEN?

If we can have the reunion 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2010 then we can for sure do that. Or, we can have it 1st quarter next year and witness the "open house" of Cebu Temple and then other activities will follow.

Just sharing my thoughts!

Sincerely,
Lyn

A letter from Bro. Jigs Segre

Dear All:

Pres. Pagaduan is perfectly right on his estimates and time frames. It would be best to do the reunion during the dedication of Cebu Temple which could take place 2-3 years from now.

Here is my take on the matter of planning the event. We have to set long term plan (which is the ultimate goal of holding the Grand Reunion) and short term goal (which should address the ongoing logistical requirements).

1. The grand reunion should be a spiritual and productive gathering. We have to anticipate that attending the event would require a number of persons in the family (since majority have their own spouses and children already) along with the PDM RM. Unfortunately, not all PDM RMs have the resources to attend this gathering (which was earlier pointed out by Pres. Pagaduan) but do have the desire to join. To address this matter, we have to set this plan into a more organized undertaking.

a. Organize a more structured organization with its set of officers. The way of appointment is by volunteering through advertisement of vacant positions (i.e., President, Vice President, Secretary General, Finance Manager and Public Information Officer). I personally do not believe to have more officers than what I have noted to avoid chaos since more often than not, too many hands spoil the stew or to that effect. We do not want to appoint people since volunteerism would be more effective based on a self-motivated desire to make this happen.

b. To help the vital key persons (officers) in micro-coordination, we will then request for volunteers to act as Area Coordinator (i.e., West Coast-US, East Coast-US, Central-US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Island Pacific, Europe, Manila, Cebu and Davao - - which I believe are key areas where PDM Missionaries are now residing. Their primary role would be to personally call the PDM RM and establish contact, build database, update through telephone calls and/or even meeting the RM in person to discuss/update re the matter. This way, we establish a long-term contact with less effort and time. Also, they create a local circle of friends based on a common past of serving in the same mission. This is exciting.

c. We need to have a grander purpose of reuniting ourselves in this event aside from social aspect. I suggest that we make a charitable service which will be discussed later on upon establishing the organization (e.g., adopt a school, or college scholarship, etc.). In this regard, upon organizing ourselves, we could then later on become a Foundation operating worldwide based on our already existing bonds. We can call our Foundation as 99-02 PDM RM Foundation (or other name). You see, we do not only just socialize but we achieve higher purpose than meeting each other and putting our learned lessons in PDM into practice, which is to become a light to the world.

d. Thanks to Sis. Analee for that blog and I'd put a Yahoo Group where one can send an email to the group and broadcast any announcement regarding the Grand Reunion.

2. Nonetheless, we need to do something to jump start this endeavor. I have a couple of things that we could prolly start doing.

1. Set up the officers
2. Determine a tentative date.
3. design a "teaser" poster to be posted on stake centers where PDM RM might be residing.
4. invite anyone to design a website solely for this event, the web address should be easy to remember, accessible and full of information where visitors can immediately send an email or get the info in a heartbeat.
5. build a contact dbase, name, date of service, email ad, residence ad, and contact numbers.

We should be careful not to make this whole endeavor so tasking that everyone would lose the interests because it demands so much of their time but also watchful that we do not idle too much about it as well. We just chill and let things happen. The last thing we need is stress our already stressful life with unnecessary worries related to this event.

Lastly, with e-mails, what else is impossible to make this happen? hehehehe, yeah there is one thing that could make this remain just a dream, laziness and unwillingness to be a part of it.

Ciao guys!

I am volunteering to be the Vice-President.

Please feel free to forward this to everyone if needed. Thanks.

Atten: PDM RM's 1999-2002

Now is the time to pull that Book of Remembrance out that you have save from our mission. After long years of wishing and hoping to meet your dearest companions and co-missionaries in your districts and zones, we are happy to inform you that we are planning to have a reunion in honor to all missionaries who serve Davao Mission within June1999-June2002 or those who serve under President Pagaduan's term.

You are all free to leave comments and join at our survey poll to choose the date you want for the reunion. Let us know when and where you want it held and what are the activities you want. I will be happy to post all of the letters you can send and pictures during our mission or news letter of your family. Also you can share the home addresses of the missionaries who don't have an email address and will be happy to find a way to contact them as well.

We hope and pray that we can inform fellow RM's as much as we can. Till then, stay safe and and press forward.

Sending my love and best regards to you and your family.

A Letter from Bro. Rei Singsam

Sister Analee!

I was so happy to hear from you. I hope that you and your family are good and that you all had a good Christmas and new year.

At this stage, the reunion is still in its early stages of planning. I am still waiting to hear back from all of the rest of the PDM alumni in which I sent the email to.

A possible date will have to be decided when all of the replies come back. Your idea of voting on a date is a very good method of finding out when the reunion should take place.

Maybe we could delegate the assignments to the R.M's based in the Phils. As we are abroad, it is difficult organize everything.

Can you forward the information to any of the PDM R.M's that you have the email addresses for. Salamat.

I'm so happy we can all keep in touch, bisan kung hapit na 9 years sukad kita nagsugod sa atong mission didto sa Davao.

Take care, and keep in touch regarding our plans.

love and warm wishes,

Rei

A Letter from the President

Sister Analee,

We are very pleased to hear from you and able to communicate with other RM’s from Davao Mission. Sister Pagaduan and I are very excited to have a reunion with our missionaries and their families. We are back to home base – Cabanatuan City. In a short time, we will retire from work and are planning to go as couple missionaries wherever the Lord wants us to go. We thought it will be a great privilege to teach the gospel or rekindle the testimonies of less active members when we serve this mission.

So you are now somewhere in this planet earth with your family. We know you are in the US but exactly where we don’t know. But what is important now is we can connect through the internet. All our children are now finished in their schooling this year although one, our youngest, Jayson is still studying at BYU-Provo for his PhD in Bio Chemistry.

We thank Rei for his initiative and suggestion for us to have a reunion. Of course, the distance and cost could be a constraint for several of our missionaries but it could be worth the feeling of joy and reunion for all of us. We think the feeling could be like what Alma the younger felt when he met his fellowmissionaries (the sons of Mosiah) who served in the Lamanite mission when he met them again after 14 years of separation.

We look forward to our reunion with our families somewhere, sometime. God bless you always and your family.

Sincerely,

Bro and Sis Pagaduan
